Overview
Mahidol University is a research university that aims to enhance the research potential of both faculty members and students in terms of both quantity and quality. At the same time, graduate education plays a vital role in strengthening research capacity. Master's and doctoral programs provide students with opportunities to conduct research at an international level, preparing them to become independent researchers and scholars in the future.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies, in collaboration with various departments within Mahidol University and graduate program advisors, recognizes the need to provide research assistant scholarships for graduate students. These scholarships are intended to support students with high potential in both academic study and research, while also promoting and supporting dissertation research that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, which focuses on reducing inequalities within and among countries.
This initiative also enables students to devote themselves fully to their dissertation research and produce research of international quality.
Eligibility
- Must be a Thai or international graduate student currently enrolled in a program under the financial coordination of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University. This applies to regular students and special affiliate students, except those enrolled in programs under the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Mahidol University International College, College of Music, and College of Management.
- Must have the thesis committee and thesis topic approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
- Applicants must be actively studying and must not exceed the study plan duration specified in the program documentation approved by the University Council.
- For students in Study Plan 2 (coursework included), the cumulative GPA must be 3.50 or higher.
- Must pass the English proficiency requirement according to the Faculty of Graduate Studies' English language standards for graduation.
- Must demonstrate strong research potential, such as previous publications, academic awards, or other research achievements.
- Must not have previously received the Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Scholarship (RGJ), and must not simultaneously receive scholarships or research funding from other sources that are categorized as salary support or are of a similar nature. If scholarships or research grants have previously been received, the funding source, funding amount, and funding period must be disclosed.
- Must be able to conduct research full-time in collaboration with the principal advisor throughout the scholarship period. If already employed, an official approval letter from the employer permitting full-time study and research leave throughout the scholarship period must be provided.

Required documents
- Students applying for the Graduate Research Assistantship must complete the application form in full, obtain approval from the principal advisor, and submit the application through the Chair of the Program Administration Committee and the Dean/Director of the Faculty, Institute, or College responsible for the program.
- The required supporting documents include:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the principal advisor applying for the Graduate Research Assistantship.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the student together with the applicant's research plan.
- Current Grade Report of the student applying for the scholarship.
If the applicant submits incomplete supporting documents, the Faculty of Graduate Studies will not consider the application under any circumstances.
